Sanjay is the driving force behind Fortes Education. He sets the vision and is the key driver behind the innovation at the schools. Before starting Fortes Education, Sanjay worked for 10 years in New York in investment banking at Lazard Freres & Co., considered the preeminent Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Corporate Finance and Institutional Leasing firm on Wall Street in the 1980s and 1990s. After spending a decade on Wall Street, Sanjay left the US and returned to Dubai where he got involved in various entrepreneurial opportunities. Most passionate about education and eager to make a real difference in the world and society, and especially to the lives of young children, Sanjay gave up the life of high finance to pursue a career as an educationist where he saw he could make maximum impact. Under his leadership, Fortes Education has grown into an organisation that builds and operates truly exceptional schools and preschools which inspire, empower and enlighten students, and enrich the communities that we are part of. Keenly abreast of the latest developments in best global practices in pedagogy, school administration, and curriculum development and delivery, Sanjay leads Fortes Education from the front, and works alongside Fortes’ educators and leaders inspiring change, and driving innovation and quality in Fortes’ schools, and leading thought leadership to ensure every child receives the best possible education. Sanjay completed his education in the US with a double degree in Finance and Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League university. Sanjay is happily married to another educationist. In his free time, he enjoys yoga and meditation, and is a voracious reader of diverse subjects from politics to philosophy, IT, education and more.
Ajay sits on the board of Fortes Education and is responsible for the new build programs at Fortes Education’s schools as well as strategy; construction, project management and facilities management; technology management; and marketing. Ajay has more than 15 years of experience in the education sector. His experience includes setting up Regent International School, Sunmarke School and the Jumeirah International Nurseries; understanding local education needs and adapting international best practices to suit these needs; and building effective teams to engage with stakeholders (staff, students and parents) to fulfil their needs. Ajay has over 15 years of experience in building teams, developing talent, and growing and managing educational institutes into sustainable and community conscious enterprises. He has also worked in different industries in various parts of the world. Ajay also sits on the board of Fortes Holdings which is involved in property development, engineering and construction, and health and fitness. Ajay completed his education in the US in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League university. Ajay is happily married and has a new born son. He is a keen art collector and in his free time, enjoys cycling, workouts, yoga, and Krav Maga (self defense martial arts).
Janet is an educator at heart whose career has spanned teaching positions in the classroom to headship posts. Her guiding principle as an educator has always been to provide students the means to achieve excellence and realise their full potential.
Janet has held various senior leadership positions in reputable schools and has been instrumental in setting up Fortes Education's various schools and nurseries. Janet works closely with the range of stakeholders (school leaders, teachers and staff, as well as students and parents) at each school to craft and implement both school development and strategic plans. She works in concert with the heads and senior management teams at each Fortes school to ensure high standards of student conduct and student academic achievement, as well as excellence in curriculum delivery, school administration, school governance and school operations. Janet graduated with a Bachelors in Education from Trinity College, University of Dublin, Ireland. Janet is happily married and has five children. She spends her free time with friends and family and has a wicked sense of humour.
